/ Proof of Pipeline Matte Painting Tests

Our Proof of Pipeline shot is our chance to show everyone what our team can do artistically and technically, so it needs to look great. I was worried about jumping to a matte painting for the shot without at least considering the color and placement of major elements in the shot, so I mocked up three different looks.

To give the paintings a cool “sci-fi” feel, I decided that this planet, at least for the pipeline test, can have two suns. This will mess with lighting, though, since everything should would have two shadows. If I want to move forward with two suns, its important that I discuss this with Dan or Brendan to ensure that its light that way. If the two sun gimmick doesn’t work for everyone else, then I’m willing to give it up.

Each of the looks was based off of reference images that I found, with a composition driven by the golden ratio. I’ve left the golden ratio layer and the referenced images layer on in each of the images.
